What charging options are available?
There are different solutions for charging your electric vehicle:
At home: You can charge your car using a reinforced domestic socket or a fixed wallbox charger, which provides a higher charging capacity (up to 11 kW in a single-family home) and less energy loss compared to charging from a standard socket. Find all our recommendations for installing a charging station on the Klima-Agence website.
At work: Many companies are investing in electromobility and have charging infrastructure in place. Check the accessibility and the pricing policy applied.
At public charging stations: Luxembourg has an extensive network of public charging points, including so-called fast chargers (AC – alternating current up to 22 kW) and ultra-fast chargers (DC – direct current up to 400 kW). You can find all publicly accessible charging points on Geoportail. To use these stations, you will need either a mobility card or a smartphone app from a compatible charge service provider (CSP), or you can pay “ad hoc” via QR code or payment terminal.
Abroad: With your mobility card or the smartphone app of your chosen CSP, you can also charge at public stations abroad. Most CSPs are connected to European charging networks and therefore compatible with foreign stations. Be sure to compare prices, as tariffs may vary between providers. There are also smartphone apps to help you organise your trips abroad with an electric car. Plan ahead and travel with peace of mind!
