Charging stations for the municipality's own use

1. Municipality as project developer

The municipality can develop the infrastructure used purely for the municipal vehicle fleet like any other operational infrastructure.

Advantage
  • Covering the need for charging infrastructure for the municipality's vehicle fleet
  • Charging infrastructure owned by the municipality
  • The municipality can adapt the infrastructure as needed
Disadvantage
  • No subsidies available
  • Adequate resources (staff, maintenance...) must be available

Key steps
1. Decision
2. Commissioning the work
3. Maintenance

2. Collaboration with external project developers

Subject to the complexity of the project and the municipal requirements (number of vehicles, type of charging infrastructure), it may also make sense to set up the infrastructure for the municipality's own use in cooperation with an external project developer.

Advantage
  • Covering the need for charging infrastructure for the municipality's vehicle fleet
  • Charging infrastructure is municipal-owned or rented / leased from the project developer
  • The project developer contributes necessary know-how for more complex aspects (e.g. backend for fleet management, charging to employees, etc.)
  • Also, the project developer can take care of maintenance
Disadvantage
  • No subsidies available
  • Potentially higher costs
  • Reliance on the project developer
